There were pastries and deserts galore at the third annual Pie Contest held by the Rockdale County Coopertive Extension Office at the Farmer's Market Family Fun Day on Saturday.

The overall pie contest winner out of nine entries was Rashad Holmes. For his culinary achievement he earned $80, which he said he plans to save.

Pound Puppies and Kittens also held an adoption day at the PetSmart in Conyers. Out of 25 dogs and 15 cats available for adoption, two went home to new families. To see all the dogs and cats avaiable for adoption go to www.ppnk.org
