New library assistant director a familiar face

/

Ben Carter

The Conyers-Rockdale Library recently welcomed back Ben Carter, who began work as the new Assistant Director on Sept 4.

Carter previously served as head of Youth Services at the Conyers-Rockdale Library's Nancy Guinn Memorial Library from 2006 to 2007 and then worked for Gwinnett Public Library System for five years, most recently as Assistant Branch Manager.

“I’m very excited about returning to Rockdale County and the Nancy Guinn Library,” Carter said. “The more public libraries I visit and compare, the more I realize that we have something special here - for example, our youth programs, basic computer classes, a great genealogy collection, and a wide variety of eBooks. I look forward to working with Daryl and the rest of the Nancy Guinn staff to support our community.”

As Assistant Director, Carter will coordinate and supervise the four public service departments: Adult Services, Circulation, Computer Center and Youth Services.

A native of Walton County, Carter has degrees from University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Carter's interests include studying languages (he’s currently learning the basics of Tamil), reading, and hiking in state parks.

“I look forward to exploring Conyers and Rockdale County on bike soon, too.” he added.
