YACS eyes state volleyball title

As the ICSGA State Volleyball Tournament comes to Young Americans Christian School Saturday, the home team comes in as the favorites.

The Lady Eagles finished the regular season as region champs with a 10-0 record, and a 19-2 record overall, earning a No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Young Americans Christian comes out of the west bracket and will face the east’s No. 2 seed Loganville, at 12:15 p.m.

The Lady Eagles are led by captains Halen Chapman, an outside hitter, Katelyn Durmire, a middle blocker, and Kristy Ammons, a libero, all juniors.

The tournament will open with the first match at 11 a.m., featuring the No. 1 seed out of the east, Alleluia, against the west’s No. 2 seed New Creation.

The state championship match of the double-elimination tournament will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m.
