Arrest made in hit-and-run that killed officer

The vehicle of the hit-and-run driver who killed an officer will be similar to the truck shown above but will have damage to the left side of the truck. It will also be missing the left side door mirror. The color of the vehicle is unknown.

UPDATE: Henry County police have arrested a man in connection with the hit-and-run that killed a Henry County police officer and a man who were helping a stranded motorist. They are charging Reuben Mann Garibay, 43, of Henry Count with vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, failure to maintain lane, and hit and run. He was booked into the Henry County Jail.

(Nov. 13, 12:05 p.m.) The Georgia State Patrol and the Henry County Police Department continue to search for the driver that hit two people, killing an officer, Monday night on Ga. Highway 138 in Henry County. The vehicle was last seen heading east on Ga. Highway 138 toward Rockdale County.

Henry County Police Department Officer Elgin Daniel, 53, passed away Monday night at Atlanta Medical Center from injuries sustained in the crash. Another person, John Cook, was taken to Atlanta Medical with serious injuries after being hit by the vehicle. They they were assisting a stranded motorist on the side of North Henry Blvd near Ga. Highway 42 in Stockbridge, near the Starlite Skate Center, on Monday around 6:40 p.m.

Authorities have narrowed the vehicle description to a 2000 - 2007 model year Ford F-350, standard cab, dual-wheel truck. The color is unknown. The vehicle will be similar to the truck shown above but will have damage to the left side of the truck. It will also be missing the left side door mirror.

Anyone with information on the vehicle or the person who may have been driving at the time is asked to call the Henry County Police Department at (770) 288-8200 or the the Georgia State Patrol at (770) 254-7201.

Collision repair centers are also asked to keep watch for a vehicle matching the description that may be brought in for repairs.
