On Thursday, Memorial Middle School’s Beta Club and Program Challenge students, under the guidance of Carolyn Snell, collected more than 50 gift bags for the Conyers Veterans of Foreign Wars post to hand out to retired veterans in the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.

Other Rockdale County Public School students have also been actively donating to the community during this holiday season. Flat Shoals Elementary donated more than 1,400 non-perishable items to Rockdale Emergency Relief’s food pantry; Barksdale Elementary donated more than 950 items to RER; Peeks Chapel Elementary donated more than 700 items to RER; CJ Hicks Elementary donated more than 700 pounds of food to the Atlanta Food Bank in October and food for 30 families in November; Sims Elementary collected more than 290 pairs of shoes for children in Ghana through the Soles for Souls campaign; Memorial Middle also participated in the Soles for Souls campaign.
