One of our hidden treasures in Rockdale county is the Monastery of the Holy Spirit.

The monastery has been lovingly cared for by an order of Trappist monks for the past 66 years.

The monastery, if you have not had a chance to visit, provides a most peaceful and beautiful place to meditate or a place to find for peaceful solitude.

The cost of maintaining this place of peace over the years has grown tremendously and the personal care of the 40 monks who maintain it has also increased.

To this end the monks have created a $ 6.5 million fund raising campaign to meet those needs.

So far $3.5 million has been raised by foundations and corporate givers.

The monks are now appealing to the Catholic community of north Georgia and the community at large. The peace offered by the Monastery is truly non-denominational.
