Conyers Wachovia latest hit on bank robbery spree in metro area
FBI and Conyers Police are searching for two black males that robbed the Wachovia bank branch on Dogwood Drive this morning that they believe also struck two other metro area banks.

Conyers keeps millage rate same as last year
Conyers city council approved holding this year's millage rate, or property tax rate, the same as last year - 9.41 mills. Because of lowered property values, most Conyers home owners will likely be charged less for the city portion of their tax bill.

A taxi driver was robbed in front of Eastmont Dr. early Monday morning after receiving a call for a pickup.

Suspected air conditioner thieves nabbed
After weeks of intensive investigation, Conyers police arrested two Henry County men suspected of having ties to a rash of air conditioner copper thefts in the Conyers area. Damond Martez Cox, 34, and Derick Jomont Henry, 26, both of 19 Hidden Lake Court, Stockbridge, were charged with criminal trespass, nine counts of felony theft and damage to property, burglary, and three counts of loitering and prowling.

Conyers to maintain property tax rate
The city of Conyers announced it will keep its property tax rate to 9.41 mills - the same as last year.




'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' showing at Horse Park Aug. 7
The Georgia International Horse Park is partnering again with Atlanta radio station B98.5FM to present its outdoor movie series "B At the Movies" at the GIHP on Saturday, August 7. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., families are invited to the field at the park's Grand Prix Plaza armed with lawn chairs and blankets for prime seating on the lawn for the screening of the movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" on a larger-than-life, 40-foot screen. The movie begins at dark.




Cracking down on loitering, unkempt yards
Property owners in Conyers now have an added incentive to clean up their lots. The city recently changed its ordinances to allow the city to come onto private property to clean up and charge the owners or occupants for the cost of the service.




Mother tased at July Fourth festival
A Conyers mother of two was tasered in front of her children and arrested at the Conyers July Fourth festival for obstructing an officer when she refused to move her vehicle.
