Athletes of all stripes and ages turned out Saturday, March 15, to the Rock On Rockdale 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run, departing from Beasley Drug Company. All of Rockdale’s Special Olympics athletes received participation awards. Debi Bray, Cafeteria Assistant from Rockdale County Public Schools, beat out colleagues in her district in the Ga. School Nutrition Assn.'s 8th annual State Culinary Competition March 22 at LeCordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Tucker to be selected as one of 30 school nutrition professionals from across the state to compete in the final round in April. Recipes had to appeal to student pallets, reflect new nutrition standards and include locally grown fruits or vegetables. Here is her winning recipe:

Rockdale 4-H shines at public speaking competition

Fifty-two Rockdale County 4-H members in fifth and sixth grades competed for top honors at 4-H District Project Achievement this month. These 4-H members advanced to the District Competition after qualifying at the county contest in January.
