A torn ACL is a jarring injury for anybody, but it was life-changing for a promising athlete in Salem's Ayanna Mitchell. Mitchell tore her ACL during freshman year in the semifinals of the region championships. For Mitchell, she had two choices, work hard and get better or be content with where she's at. Seminoles blowout Bulldogs

Salem just has Rockdale's number. The Seminoles showed no mercy - technically they showed mercy because of the mercy rule, but you get it - against the Bulldogs winning 15-1 in four innings. Rockdale put up a numerous amount of errors that led to their defeat, but Salem was able to put the bat on the ball recording multiple extra-base hits throughout the game. Salem will face off against Heritage on Thursday, where Patriots coach Jason McBay plans to accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Salem/Wildcats agreement on hold, “Back to School Jamboree” cancelled

According to Cindy Ball, executive director of information and community relations of Rockdale County public schools, the previously reported agreement between Salem and the Wildcats has not yet been finalized despite the press release stating that an agreement was finalized.

Update: An agreement has not yet been finalized that Salem High School will be the new home venue of the Atlanta Wildcats for the 2014-2015 season, which starts in November.
