Shay Tarver helped lead the Salem Lady Seminoles to a 47-46 victory over Winder-Barrow on Tuesday. Tarver put up 12 points on 4-8 shooting. Paris Scott played a huge role too, hitting the game-winning three with four seconds to go.

Salem AOTW: Ayanna Mitchell

The Johnny's Pizza Salem Athlete of the Week is Ayanna Mitchell for her official signing with LSU. It's been known for some time now that Ayanna Mitchell was signing to play basketball at LSU. She made it official Wednesday afternoon when she put the pen to the paper in front of friends and family. Mitchell averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 1.2 blocks per game last season as a junior. You can watch Ayanna's signing at rockdalenews.com's video section.

Season preview: Seminoles

For the fourth consecutive season last year, the Salem Seminoles boys basketball program made it to the first round of state - despite the team's 4-12 region record. The team is losing six of its seniors from last year, but retains all-region guard Austin Samuel who averaged 13 points and 10 rebounds per game last season.

Friday night football roundup 10/17
