Travis: More exhausting - a soccer player or soccer grandmother?

My younger Macon granddaughter spent the week with me. It was exhausting for both of us. She had to be across the road from Parkview High School at 8 a.m. each morning. My alarm went off at 6 a.m. and I woke my granddaughter 15 minutes later. The 15 minutes gave me time to get the paper, drink a cup of tea and read the headlines.

One Tank Trip: Bear Hollow Zoo

Bear Hollow Zoo in Athens, Georgia has something for everyone. A short drive from Newton and Rockdale counties, this zoo offers a wide variety of wild animals. Here you can find a owls, bears, an American bald eagle and a reptile house with a variety of snakes and alligators. Volunteers educated on each of the animals are on hand to answer questions and offer a hands-on visit with some of the wildlife. The Bear Hollow Zoo is free for all visitors. Canyon Ranch Institute (CRI) invites everyone who volunteers or works in low-income or medically underserved areas to apply for CRI Healthy World Scholarships. The scholarships are for stays at Canyon Ranch in Tucson, Arizona in 2015. Canyon Ranch donated 25 stays to CRI to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Canyon Ranch and to further CRI's efforts to enhance community health and well-being.
