CRCA Drama Camp

There were plenty of giggles and hard work as students blossomed during the Conyers-Rockdale Council for the Arts’ 2014 Musical Drama Camp, July 7-18. Under the guidance of Theater Director Jay Domingo, theater director at Edwards Middle School, and Music Director Brittney Jaynes, students, third grade to college age participated in exercises and training in singing and dance. The two week camp will be topped off with a special performance July 18, 7 p.m. at  the Rockdale Auditorium, 903 Main Street; www.conyersarts.org

RCHS Drama Camp

More than 30 students found their inner star during Rockdale County High School Drama Department’s 2014 Drama Camp for kids ages 8-19.  Under the supervision of Director-Choreographer Joey Fargar, of Conyers Kids, and Music Director Cindy Hall, students trained in acting, singing and dancing. Suddeth named new RCHS principal

Suddeth named new RCHS principal

IN BRIEF: Mary Ann Suddeth, the director of the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology since 2005, was unanimously approved as the next principal of Rockdale County High School. Dr. Debra Arnold, RMSST's assistant director since 2005, was unanimously promoted to head the Magnet school by the Rockdale County school board Thursday.

Rockdale students exceed state CRCT average in all areas

Rockdale County Public School students performed above the state average in all areas of the Criterion Referenced Competency Test, according to school district results from 2013-2014 released by the Georgia Department of Education today. The CRCT is given to students in grades 3-8 in five subject areas which totals 30 content area tests for each district.

Eighth grade CRCT scores improve across state

Georgia eighth graders' scores increased this year, the last year of the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, showing an eight percentage point gain in reading. Grade 8 students showed a two percentage point increase in English language arts, a three percentage point increase in mathematics, a three percentage point increase in science, and a two percentage point increase in social studies.
