High school tablet rollout hits delay with sudden end of My Big Campus software

UPDATED: The parent company that operates the My Big Campus instructional and content management software used by all Rockdale County Public Schools students and teachers is pulling the plug on the program in its current form by the end of the school year, RCPS Superintendent Richard Autry told the school board Thursday. This is likely to delay the rollout of tablets and laptops to high schools students, which was originally scheduled for next school year as part of the multi-year "one-to-one" technology initiative.

RMSST robotics team places third in world competition

The Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology robotics team recently tied for third place in the world at the Zero Robotics Finals. The team traveled to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on January 16th to watch a live feed from the International Space Station (ISS) as their code ran on autonomous robots located on the ISS.

Rockdale County Spelling Bee champion crowned

Rockdale County Spelling Bee champion crowned

Memorial Middle School student Brandon Hong won the 2015 Rockdale Count Spelling Bee Friday morning. The winning word he had to spell was "prima donna." Hong will move forward to compete in the District 5 spelling bee competition, organized by the Georgia Association of Educators, on Feb. 28. Winners from that bee will have a chance to go on to the state-wide contest on March 20, 11 a.m. at Georgia State Univerisity.

RCPS enrichment camp for winter break Feb. 16-19

Rockdale County Public Schools will again hold an Enrichment Camp for students in grades 2-8 at the Rockdale Career Academy during the week of February intercession, Feb. 16 - 19 from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Rockdale County students can spend the week solving crimes with the CSI class or learning about Bavarian culture as they study Germany during the annual Enrichment Camp.
